Module Content
COURSE CONTENT The course is designed to introduce students to the elements of Journalism, from newsgathering, reporting to final printed and broadcast media and, if chosen, the practical basic elements of PR. JOURNALISM: Role of the Reporter and established news values, the difference between news and feature stories, writing feature and news pieces, basic interview techniques, preparing and producing a basic written article for publication, understanding of libel law, Journalistic writingskills, basic elements of applied communication theory, print production, sub-editing, layout and design, picture handling and cropping, history of Journalism and writing for the web. OPTIONAL PR MODULE: Introduction to Public Relations and the PRII, putting together a Public Relations programme, writing a news release, communicating with the media, PR tools and technqiues, event management.
