Practical PR Workshop

Workshop Overview:
This practical workshop has been designed to allow candidates learn how to communicate with the media. Candidates will learn press release writing skills, how to develop effective relationships with the media and how to prepare and present their information to the media through press releases, photo calls etc to maximise their communication objectives through print and broadcast mediums. A maximum of 6 candidates will be accepted onto the programme to ensure that each participant will be able to maximise their involvement for optimum results.

Workshop Content:
a.      Understanding the media: radio, print, online, TV – national, local and provincial
b.      Developing long term successful relationships with the media
c.       The press release – learn how to write effective news releases to maximise your publicity
d.      Thinking outside the box in order to create news worthy angles
e.      Practical press release writing sessions – structure, content and the creation of comprehensive notes to the Editor
f.        Creating attractive photo opportunities – learn how to brief a photographer, create good photo calls and learn how to communicate with the photo desk. Practical sessions based on briefs provided throughout workshop

This course has been designed for participants who are responsible for maximising publicity for their organisation – PRO’s, Press Officers, PR communicators, volunteers etc. Practical and hands on sessions will ensure you enhance your skillset.

Eugene Grey FPRII FEIC FIIC MCIPR MIITD is Group Managing Director of the Communications Group PR. He is also Director of Education at the European Institute of Communications, Ireland’s leading PR facilitators of the Public Relations Institute of Ireland’s (PRII) national PR academic programme delivered at Post Graduate and Diploma level. He is a Fellow of the PRII, a member of the Chartered Institute of Public Relations (MCIPR – UK), a member of the Confederation of European Public Relations Practitioners (MCERP – Europe), and a member of the Association of Event Management Educators (Founder Member FAEME – International).
